Why EPG Stops Working
An empty or incorrect EPG is one of the most common IPTV issues, and the cause is almost always on the source or configuration side rather than the player. There are three main reasons EPG stops working: no EPG source in the playlist, a timezone mismatch, or stale cached guide data.
No EPG Source in the Playlist
The most common cause is simply that your playlist has no EPG source attached. Not every service includes guide data — some provide channels only. If your provider does not supply an EPG URL or embed guide data in the playlist, the guide will be empty no matter what the player does. Televizo can only display guide data the source provides.
Timezone Mismatch
If the guide shows the right programs but the times are wrong, the cause is usually a timezone mismatch. Most XMLTV guide data is delivered in UTC; if your device timezone is set incorrectly, the displayed times will be shifted by the offset between UTC and your local time. This is a configuration issue, not a source data problem.
Stale Cache
If the guide worked before but now shows old data or is empty, the cached guide data may be stale. This happens when the source has updated but the player has not refreshed since. A manual refresh in Settings → EPG usually resolves it — the player reloads the current source data and replaces the stale cache.
How to Check Your EPG Source in Televizo
Before adding a new EPG source, check whether your current playlist already has one attached and whether a simple refresh fixes the issue. The process takes under a minute.
- 1
Open Televizo Settings
Launch the app and open Settings from the main interface.
- 2
Navigate to EPG
Select the EPG section in the settings menu.
- 3
Check the EPG source
Look for a configured EPG URL or a source attached to your playlist. If the field is empty, no EPG source is configured.
- 4
Refresh the EPG
Use the Refresh option to reload guide data from the source. Wait a few moments for the data to populate.
- 5
Check the guide
Return to your channel list and open the guide. If it is now populated, the issue was a stale cache. If it is still empty, the source likely supplies no data.
If the EPG source field is empty and your provider does not supply guide data, the next step is to add a manual XMLTV URL (see the section below). If a source is configured but the guide is still empty after a refresh, the source may be unreachable or supply no data for your channels — contact your provider to confirm.

How to Configure EPG in Televizo →How to Add a Manual XMLTV URL
XMLTV is a standard format for electronic program guide data. If your provider does not include EPG, or if you want to use a different guide source, you can add a manual XMLTV URL in Televizo as a separate guide source.
- 1
Obtain an XMLTV URL
Get a compatible XMLTV guide URL from your provider or a trusted guide source. The URL should point to an XMLTV file containing program schedule data.
- 2
Open Televizo Settings → EPG
Navigate to the EPG section in the app settings.
- 3
Enter the XMLTV URL
Paste the XMLTV URL into the EPG source field. Make sure the full URL is entered without truncation.
- 4
Save and refresh
Save the configuration and use the Refresh option to load the guide data. Large XMLTV files can take a few extra seconds.
- 5
Verify the guide
Return to your channel list and check the guide. If the XMLTV source covers your channels, program information should appear.

How to Configure EPG in Televizo →UTC Timezone Alignment and XMLTV Shift Explained
Most XMLTV guide data is delivered in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). The player converts those UTC times to your local timezone for display. If your device timezone is set incorrectly, every program time will be shifted by the offset — and the guide will look wrong even though the underlying data is correct.
How the alignment works:
- The XMLTV source provides program start and end times in UTC.
- Your device reports its local timezone to the player.
- The player converts UTC times to your local timezone for display.
- If the device timezone is wrong, the conversion is wrong, and times appear shifted.
Fixing a Timezone Issue
To fix wrong EPG times, check your device date, time, and timezone settings first. Make sure the timezone matches your actual location, and that the date and time are correct (ideally set automatically). Then refresh the EPG in Settings → EPG so the player reloads the guide data with the correct timezone conversion.
When to Contact Your Provider
Some EPG problems are on the source side and only your provider can fix them. Contact your provider when the issue is clearly not the player or your device configuration.
- The guide is empty after a refresh and you have confirmed no EPG source is configured — ask whether EPG is included with your account.
- Only some channels have a guide while others are empty — this is a source-coverage or mapping question for your provider.
- The guide shows incorrect program titles or descriptions — the source data itself is wrong.
- The guide worked before but is now empty and nothing changed on your device — the provider may have reset or changed the EPG source.
- You see inconsistent time errors that do not resolve with a timezone fix — the source data may have timezone issues of its own.
If you need a compatible service that includes EPG, you can explore optional subscription plans separately.
